Course Overview:
Day 1 (online):

The traditional 2 day ACLS course is now broken up into two portions. Day 1 is a self-paced online component from the Heart and Stroke Foundation (approx 4hrs).

This online component can be done anytime, at your own convenience, before Day 2.
Day 2: (In class)
-
(9am - 5pm): In-class instruction starting with BLS/ACLS skills assessments, and scenarios with other participants.
Prerequisites:
Each student should have a basic understanding of the following:

Basic Life Support is required before completion of the ACLS program, a BLS renewal certificate will be issued to you during the ACLS course at no extra cost.

Recognition of common cardiac ECG rhythms.

Effective management of airways and use of different types of airways.
-
Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology.
Description
The ACLS Provider course will help you to develop skills – as a member of a healthcare team – in simulated situations that mirror real-life cardiac-related emergencies that happen in hospital environments such as the Emergency Room, Operating Room, ICU, or advanced care practitioner setting in out-of-hospital situations.
These simulations will involve:

high-quality CPR

high-performance team dynamics and communication
-
systems of care
-
recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes.
You will be able to reinforce concepts, undertake skills practice, receive coaching and correction, and refine your abilities.
What to bring to class:

Please bring your own mask as we are practicing some restrictions due to COVID-19.

Wear comfortable clothing as hands-on simulations are a part of the course.
