Course Overview:
Prior to Class:
- a self-paced online component (approx 2hrs).
- This online component can be done anytime, at your own convenience, before the in class portion of your course.
- Make sure to take a screen shot or bring a print out of your expired PALS certification, you must present this to the instructor in class.
Day 2: (In class)
- (9am - 5pm): In-class instruction starting with BLS/PALS skills assessments, and scenarios with other participants.
Prerequisites:
Each student should have a basic understanding of the following:
- Basic Life Support is required before completion of the PALS program, you will be certified in BLS during the PALS in class portion of the course.
- PALS Pre-Test (included in the online component).
DESCRIPTION
This course will refresh your skills with a wide range of life-threatening scenarios involving pediatric patients experiencing: respiratory emergencies, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest.
The goal is to strengthen your ability to recognize sick children and provide the correct treatment, and how to work effectively as a critical member of a healthcare team during pediatric emergencies.
These simulations will involve:
- High-quality BLS
- Recognition of common pediatric cardiac ECG rhythms
- Effective airway management and use of adjuncts
- Knowledge of pediatric cardiopulmonary pharmacology
- Practical management of complex cases
- High-performance team skills
What to bring to class:
- Make sure to take a screen shot or print out of your expired PALS certification, you must present this to the instructor in class.

- Wear comfortable clothing as hands-on simulations are a part of the course.
